Tourism Australia's flagship trade event in China, previously known as the Greater China Travel Mission (GCTM), has been rebranded as Australia Marketplace China.

Australia Marketplace China 2019 will take place in Chengdu, China from 11 to 15 November. The program includes pre-scheduled meetings between buyers and sellers, and networking events.

The event is an opportunity for representatives from the Australian tourism industry to establish business relationships with key qualified travel agencies and tour operators from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

China is Australia’s largest inbound tourism market. Visitor arrival figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) for 2018 indicate there were 1,432,100 visitor arrivals from China, a 6 per cent increase compared to 2017.

Tourism Australia has offices in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Hong Kong and works closely with its partners to maintain the visibility of Australia amongst target customers and to develop and service the Aussie Specialist Program in China. There are currently 13,207 travel agents/consultants throughout the main markets in China who are qualified Aussie Specialists, and approximately 85 Premier Aussie Specialists.
