The India Travel Mission (ITM) 2018 is taking place in Jaipur, India from 20 to 23 August.

ITM is an opportunity for representatives from the Australian tourism industry to establish business relationships with key qualified travel agencies and tour operators from India, including the main cities of Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Pune and Jaipur.

ITM18 includes pre-scheduled meetings between buyers and sellers, and opportunities to network at the official event functions.

The India Market

India is Australia’s 8th largest inbound tourism market. Visitor arrival figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) for 2017 indicate there were 302,200 visitor arrivals from India, the largest number of Indian visitors to Australia in a single year and a 15 per cent increase compared to 2016.

ITM provides an excellent platform to facilitate business relationships and ensure that leisure and Business Event (BE) visitors going forward drive tourist arrivals to Australia. Tourism Australia’s key market focus will be to continue to showcase Australia’s strengths as a destination in cooperation with industry partners, as well as highlighting the welcoming and multi-cultural elements that make Australia an ideal place for a holiday or business event. Tourism Australia will also continue to build on strong trade relationships and training programs for the leisure market, and work on positioning Australia as an ideal destination for business events.

Tourism Australia has an office in Mumbai and works closely with its partners to maintain the visibility of Australia amongst target customers and to develop and service the Aussie Specialist Program in India. There are currently more than 3,500 travel agents/consultants from over 1,900 travel agencies throughout the main markets in India who are qualified Aussie Specialists.
