When and where is Australia Marketplace Japan & Korea 2022? 

Australia Marketplace Japan and Korea 2022 will be held in Seoul, Republic of Korea (South Korea) from Monday 26 to Tuesday 27 September 2022 and in Tokyo, Japan from Thursday 29 to Friday 30 September 2022. 

The Japan event will be held at the Hilton Tokyo and the South Korea event will be held at the Westin Josun Hotel.

The events will be held based on demand, if numbers fall below the anticipated targets Tourism Aiustralia will assess the viability of proceeding.

Can I attend just the Japan or South Korea portions of the event or do I need to attend both?  

Sellers can opt to attend one or both events in Japan and South Korea, and there is a discounted participation fee to attend both. Buyers will only be required to attend one event; either Japan or South Korea.

Can I attend the event virtually?  

No, Australia Marketplace Japan & Korea 2022 will be a physical event only. To connect virtually with the Australian Tourism Industry, we recommend you register for Australia 365 On Demand, please contact us for further information on this platform. 

Who will I meet with?  

Sellers will be meeting with key qualified travel agencies, wholesalers and tour operators from Japan and/or South Korea. Buyers will be meeting with sellers from the Australian Tourism Industry.   

How many appointments will I receive? 

This will depend on the final number of buyers and sellers and also if demand is high from Australian Industry. This will be communicated to you prior to offer acceptance. At this stage a full schedule will be approx 40 appointments per event.

Can I register an additional delegate? 

Yes, sellers can bring one additional delegate per company and buyers can bring one additional delegate per schedule.

How long will each appointment go for?   

Each appointment will go for 13 minutes, with two minutes change over time between appointments.  

Do I need to arrange an interpreter?   

Tourism Australia’s in-market teams will arrange interpreters for buyers in Japan and interpreters for sellers in Korea who require assistance. 

Will I get a list of all attendees and can I contact them outside of the event?  

Yes, Tourism Australia will provide a Directory of Buyers to sellers and a Directory of Australian Sellers to buyers so you can communicate post event.   

When will I know if my application has been accepted?

Tourism Australia will assess all applications and send out notifications of assessment in line with the key dates. Please note that numbers will be capped based on buyer targets and over-subscription will be managed in line with the selection criteria and in conjunction with State/Territory Tourism Organisations.




Will I require a visa for entry to Japan?  

As of 1 July 2022, previous visa exemption measures for Australian passport holders have been paused. Australian passport holders and travellers from Australia require a valid visa to enter Japan.

The current procedure for Australian travellers entering Japan is listed on the Japanese embassy website, noting that visa and/or entry requirements are subject to change. 

At present, to enter Japan for up to 90 days on business related purposes, you will be required to submit a visa application form, a copy of your passport and certificate from the Entrants, Returnees Follow-Up System (ERFS) applied by receiving organisation. 

Please ensure that you arrange for a receiving organisation to complete the ERFS certificate on your behalf.

Due to current delays in processing times, we encourage you to apply for your visa as soon as possible.

Will I require a visa for entry to South Korea?  

Currently all international visitors, including Australian passport holders, require a valid visa to enter South Korea. For short term travel up to 90 days, travellers are encouraged to apply for a K-ETA at least 72 hours prior to departure. K-ETA approval does not guarantee entry to South Korea. The final determination of a traveller's entry will be made by the immigration official during entry immigration inspection.

As of 8 June 2022, all international travellers are required to produce a negative PCR test result (taken within 48 hours of your departure date) or a supervised RAT test result (taken within 24 hours of your departure).

Upon arriving in Korea, you will also be required to undertake a PCR test as at an approved medical institution. This test must be undertaken within three days of your arrival, regardless the length of stay in South Korea.
