COVID-19 planning
At this stage, ATE21 is going ahead as planned but please be assured that we are closely monitoring the recent COVID-19 developments. Should any changes to delegate attendance or the event be required, we will communicate as early as possible.
The Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) is planned to take place live in Sydney and online, in June 2021.
Tourism Australia is planning a hybrid event that includes in-person and virtual event components that ensures the tourism industry can meet, exchange knowledge, and make business connections amid ongoing uncertainty around international travel and border openings.
When will ATE be held?
ATE Live is planned to be held from 6 to 9 June at the International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney). This will be for international buyers who are based in Australia or located in countries permitted to travel to Australia, domestic buyers and frontline travel sellers. ATE Online will immediately follow, from 10 to 17 June, for all other international buyers who are unable to travel due to border restrictions.
Who will attend?
Sellers may apply to attend one or both of the ATE Live and ATE Online events.
The following buyer types may apply to attend ATE Live:
- Australian-based international buyers including Inbound Tour Operators
- Australian domestic buyers and frontline travel sellers
- International buyers who are able to travel to Australia
- Australian domestic luxury and premium buyers
The following buyer types may apply to attend ATE Online:
- International buyers, including Inbound Tour Operators, based overseas
- International frontline travel sellers
- International luxury and premium buyers
All applications are assessed against the buyer and seller selection criteria and terms and conditions.
A new layout
This year’s trade show layout will be different to previous ATE events. Traditional seller booths will be replaced with networking areas defined by State and Territories, and appointments will take place throughout the trade show floor.
As there will be more sellers than buyers attending the event, buyers will remain stationary while sellers will move between appointments. This change will save sellers considerable time in the lead up as well as delivering cost savings on booth design and imagery.
The trade show will still have its great 'ATE' feel and all States and Territories will be on show to attendees.
Attendance limits
Tourism Australia expects seller demand for ATE21 to be high and we will endeavour to accept as many sellers as possible in line with the seller selection criteria. To maintain the integrity of appointments and the seller/buyer ratio however, there will be a seller cap for the event. Please read more detail on this in the seller participation options.
As planning progresses, there will be more initiatives to share. ATE21 will evolve and adapt with the current climate while remaining true to the purpose of connecting the Australian tourism industry with domestic and international buyers through one-on-one appointments and networking opportunities.
