GENERAL EVENT QUESTIONS
When and where is ATE23?
ATE23 will be held from 30 April to 4 May 2023 at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC), in partnership with Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ).
What will ATE23 look like?
The trade show layout will revert to the traditional four-day model. Sellers will be allocated to booths within state and territory zones and buyers will move between appointments.
Will there be an Online component at ATE23?
There is currently no planned online component for ATE23. Should circumstances arise that may impact in-person attendance by buyers, Tourism Australia may pivot to online and will communicate as necessary.
Who can attend?
ATE brings together Australian tourism businesses and international tourism wholesalers and retailers through scheduled appointments and networking events. We expect a record number of applications for ATE23 and will manage waitlists in line with the selection criteria and in conjunction with state/territory tourism organisations to ensure quality appointment schedules.
How many delegates from my organisation can attend ATE23?
There is no limit on the number of additional delegates you can bring from your organisation. The fee for an additional delegate pass is $1,210 which does not include an appointment schedule. Sellers should add the additional delegate pass when submitting their application to attend.
HOW DO I REQUEST AN ADDITIONAL DELEGATE OR DAY/EVENT PASS?
You can request an additional delegate or day/event passes at the end of your primary seller application process. On the home page, click on the 'Register Additional Delegate or Day/Event Pass' button against a delegate's name or nominate a new contact. If you have already submitted your organisation's application, please contact us and we can revert your application to "In Progress" so that you can make the necessary changes.
Do I have to be vaccinated to attend ATE23?
COVID-19 vaccination is recommended by the Australian Government for all adults. Whilst evidence of vaccination is not a requirement for participation at ATE23, it is strongly encouraged by Tourism Australia.
What is the cost to attend ATE23?
Seller participation fees will be $5,740 for an exhibition booth and an appointment schedule. Please visit the sellers page for a list of inclusions.
Can I purchase a day pass?
Day passes will be available for each day of ATE23 until allocations are exhausted. It is recommended that you purchase day passes as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
Am I guaranteed acceptance at the event?
No, all applications will be assessed in line with the ATE23 Seller Selection Criteria and Event Terms and Conditions.
When will I know if my application has been accepted and an offer received?
Acceptances will be advised in December 2022. Tourism Australia will assess all applications and send out notifications of assessments in line with the key dates.
When do I need to pay?
Offers will be communicated in December 2022 with deadline for acceptance and payment on Friday, 13 January 2023.
Can I share a booth with another seller?
Due to limited space at the GCCEC, the booth size will be 2m x 2.5m, which means you will be unable to share your booth with another seller.
Can I request a double booth?
We are expecting a high number of seller applications to ATE23, as a result, it will be highly unlikely that requests for double booths will be accommodated. Double booths will be assessed based on the total number of seller applications received.
Are flights and accommodation included for sellers to attend ATE23?
Accommodation and flights will be at the delegates’ own expense for ATE23.
When should I book flights?
It is recommended that you do not book your travel until you have been offered a place at the event.
How long will the appointments be at ATE23?
Appointments for ATE23 will be 15-minutes with a 3-minute walk time between appointments.
How many appointments will I receive at ATE23?
There are 77 available pre-scheduled appointment slots and 13 free appointments. Tourism Australia cannot guarantee a minimum number of pre-scheduled appointments as this is dependent on buyer preferencing as well as exclusions selected. We strongly encourage all sellers to complete preferencing to ensure the best chance of receiving quality appointments. Further details on how to complete preferencing will be sent in March 2023.
What if I don't get an appointment with a buyer I really wanted to meet with?
Once your appointment schedule is released, there will be a period of online messaging where you can contact any buyer that you did not secure a pre-scheduled appointment with to try and find a suitable time to meet. However, please keep in mind that buyer schedules are likely to be close to full. We encourage sellers to maximise their breaks – morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, and the evening networking events – to ensure they have connected with as many buyers as possible.
Can I exclude markets that may not be relevant for me to meet with?
Yes, sellers will be able to exclude any markets that are not relevant in the preferencing process. Further details will be sent to accepted sellers ahead of preferencing opening in March 2023.
Can I store and reuse my back panel graphics at the end of ATE23?
As back panels will be smaller due to reduced booth sizes at the GCCEC, they may not be suitable for future ATE events.
Do I need to have Public Liability Insurance (PLI)?
Yes, all participating sellers are required to have a current Public Liability Insurance with a minimum of AUD$10-million per occurrence to participate in a Tourism Australia Trade Event. Please ensure that your organisation meets this requirement as all applications with incomplete insurance details will be automatically waitlisted.
