Biographies should not contain contact details and/or websites as this appears in the directories at the top of the page. All biographies should be written in the third person and be a maximum of 50 words. For more guidance on how to write your biography, view the style guide.

Visa requirements

An Australian visa is an essential requirement for every visitor to Australia. You are responsible for securing your own Australian visa and ensuring you have a valid passport. For further details, please visit the Australian Government Department of Immigration & Border Protection website.

If you have any questions regarding your passport or visas, you will need to contact your local Australian Embassy as Tourism Australia staff are not trained to assist in this area.

You are required to take out your own travel/medical insurance for the duration of the famil and strongly recommend you bring a record of your travel insurance details with you.

Famil Program

When will I know my famil destination?

You will be notified of your confirmed famil destination after acceptances.

What dates is my famil?

Your famil dates will be advised once you are notified of your famil allocation. Famils will be pre/post the main event program and are dependent on flight scheduling. The famils run for 4 nights.

When will I get information on the weather/climate and what to bring on the trip?

Each participant will receive a detailed itinerary prior to departure. This will provide further information around what you should pack for the trip.

How many different nationalities can I expect on my famil group?

One of the most exciting aspects of G'day Australia is bringing together so many like-minded people, with a love of Australia and travelling. While you will be in Perth with Aussie Specialists of various nationalities, some of our pre or post famils are grouped by country, others consist of Aussie Specialists from various countries.

Will our famil escort also be in Perth for the workshops?

Yes, your escort will be a staff member from either Tourism Australia or one of the State and Territory Tourism organisations. They will travel with you for the entire duration of the event and will be your first point of contact for any questions, assistance or emergencies throughout the workshops and famil. Your escort will also be responsible for ensuring everyone in their group is conducting themselves in a professional and responsible manner.

How is accommodation allocated?

You will be sharing a room with another Aussie Specialist of the same gender throughout the duration of the event (workshop and famil), although not necessarily always with the same person. Upgrades to single rooms are not available.

Workshops

What will be the format of the workshop?

The G'day Australia workshop will be set-up as a trade show with over 100 seller booths. Aussie Specialists will rotate in groups of two to three for 10-minute appointments at each booth. Australian sellers have the option to attend as a sole booth or share booth with another product. When there are two products sharing a booth, the 10-minute appointment will be shared (ie: five minutes each). An appointment schedule will be provided to each participant and a list of Australian sellers will be made available before departure.

Do I have to attend all workshop appointments?

Yes, the Australian sellers have paid to train all qualified Aussie Specialists and many have provided inclusions in the various famil itineraries. An appointment schedule will be provided so that each participant will know who they are meeting with and when.

What is the dress code?

Casual business attire is appropriate for the workshop appointments and all evening functions. The dress code for famils is comfortable, casual attire.

Do I have to attend the evening functions?

Yes, and you won’t want to miss them. The evening functions are not only a casual way to network with the Australian sellers, but a great way to enjoy the Aussie lifestyle and experience the fun of Perth as a holiday destination.

Will there be many brochures given out during the workshop that I have to carry home?

No, there are strict luggage restrictions on the flights therefore the Australian sellers have been asked not to bring brochures and advised that no Aussie Specialist is expected to take extra collateral home. Please note: there will be an event app that you can access seller profiles and event information as required.

Can I make requests for my dietary requirements?

Yes, if accepted the G'day Australia application form allows you to advise of any dietary requirements. The event organisers will endeavour to accommodate dietary requirements however it cannot always be guaranteed.
